Carbon monoxide poisoning at coal mine in China: 16 dead

16 people died as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning in a coal mine in southwestern China.

According to the news in Xinhua, officials reported that the belts burned down in a mine in the Chiciang region of the southwestern town of Chongqing.

Reported that 17 people stranded due to excessive carbon monoxide levels. Officials stated that 16 of those who were trapped lost their lives. That one person was also being treated at the hospital.

An investigation has been launched into the incident.
